Canned Laughter began as a sketch for The Night Shift but it quickly became clear that this idea had more potential. Bob Watson, our illustrious DP and editor, liked the idea so much he wanted to shoot it on film. We brought on Ken Westermann as a director and soon we were making a 16mm short film!

This was the cusp of the digital revolution, mind you. Film was still king and we wanted to test our might against the format. The end result is this clever little comedy.
